Begins as a paralyzed ex-Marine and a corporate spare part, taking his dead twin's place for reasons closer to boredom and desperation than conviction. He spies, files reports, and slowly cannot tell which set of reports is the lie. After catastrophe he is stripped of every affiliation — outcast to the Na'vi, traitor to the humans — and must earn back standing not with information but with sacrifice, becoming Toruk Makto and finally choosing a permanent body.

Duty to her clan and to Eywa, and a fierce insistence that the world be seen truthfully — including the man in front of her.

Introduced as a hunter who saves a fool she despises, then assigned to teach him. Her arc is the cost of teaching: she gives Jake her people's knowledge and her trust, is repaid with the revelation of his deception, and must decide whether a betrayal cancels everything that preceded it. She ends as the one who sees his human body for the first time and does not look away.

Knowledge, and the protection of a biosphere she understands better than anyone alive — with a private, unadmitted love for the people she studies.

A chain-smoking, funder-baiting xenobotanist who built a school for the Na'vi and lost it. She treats Jake as an insult to her program and gradually recognizes him as the field asset she could never be: someone the Na'vi will actually listen to. Her research reframes Pandora's spirituality as measurable science, and her fate turns her abstract argument about the network into something felt.

Mission completion, professional pride, and a genuine conviction that Pandora must be broken before it breaks his people.

Barely changes, which is the point. He is a man who has converted fear of an unfamiliar world into a doctrine of pre-emptive force, running a private security force with the grammar of a national army. His scars are his credentials, and his refusal to acknowledge Pandora as anything but hostile terrain makes him the film's argument about the failure to see.

A soldier's line she will not cross; loyalty to people over orders.

A combat pilot who flies science missions with amused professionalism until she is ordered to fire on civilians and refuses. Her defection is the film's quietest and most consequential moral act, made without speeches, and it converts the story from a Na'vi resistance into a genuine mutiny inside the human camp.
