The investigation into the creator’s assassination initially targets resistance figure Jon Mafram. However, Salia and Zem uncover that the creator was not assassinated by external rebels, but by agents connected to the ruling elite of Zone 1. The creator had discovered that ALMA’s algorithms were being manipulated by state officials to fabricate predictive criminal profiles, actively targeting political dissidents and lower-class organizers before any crimes were conceived.
When the creator attempted to expose the flaw and decommission ALMA's predictive module, the governing elite orchestrated his elimination and framed the Zone 3 resistance to justify a full military crackdown. By piecing together the corrupted data cache, Salia and Zem break through the security perimeter of Zone 1. Rather than handing the evidence over to compromised superiors, they transmit the raw ALMA source data to the resistance and the public, triggering citywide unrest and dismantling the algorithm’s perceived infallibility.
