¿Quieres ser mi novia? (2026) is a Mexican romantic comedy written and directed by Ihtzi Hurtado, released in Mexican theaters on February 12, 2026, days before Valentine's Day. It is a sequel to Hurtado's 2023 film ¿Quieres ser mi hijo?, bringing back Ludwika Paleta as Lucía ("Lu") and Juanpa Zurita as Javier ("Javi"), the unconventional couple whose age gap turned the first film into a hit.
Where the first film was about falling in love, this one is about staying in love. Lu and Javi are past the infatuation stage and now face the less photogenic work of sustaining a relationship inside an environment saturated with other people's opinions. Social prejudice about their age difference, which they once laughed off, becomes harder to ignore once it starts shaping their daily choices.
The pressure comes to a head when Javi is invited to Acapulco to celebrate his parents' wedding anniversary — without having told his traditional family that Lu is his girlfriend. Left behind and feeling increasingly invisible, Lu finds unexpected refuge in a new coworker closer to her own age and stage of life, while Javi encounters temptations of his own. Through humor, misunderstandings and surprises, the couple's bond is put to the test.
