Ranking of Kings — Ending Explained

⚠️ Spoiler Analysis

Bojji begins as a ridiculed prince, and his father Bosse is the seventh-ranked king. The Magic Mirror manipulates events, and Bosse is eventually controlled and taken from his family. Queen Hiling fights to protect her husband and Bojji, while criminals summoned from the underworld, including the immortal Ouken, rampage through the kingdom. Bojji grows stronger through training under Despa and learns the truth about the Mirror, who is Miranjo, a woman whose face was disfigured and whose story is tragic. Bojji is eventually put in the position of passing judgment on her. The final episodes put the question of mercy against vengeance at the center, and a new warrior arrives to face Ouken. The deeper meaning of the series becomes clearer on a rewatch: the people who look weak are often those who hold the story together.

Alternative Interpretations

Some viewers read the series as a fairy tale about disability and acceptance, where the ranking is a metaphor for ableism. Others see it as a political allegory about how hierarchies create resentment and violence, and about breaking cycles of vengeance. Some see Miranjo's story as the darker, tragic mirror of Bojji's.
