SAKAMOTO DAYS — Ending Explained

The first cour builds from Shin's failed attempt on Sakamoto through the one-billion-yen bounty, Sugar Park, the survival tournament with the sniper Heisuke Mashimo, and Lu's kidnapping by a group from the Lab. In the Lab, Shin's past becomes central and Heisuke joins the fight against an invisible assassin. After a bathhouse interlude, the casino battle closes the first part, where Lu's flashback explains how her defence of Wutang made him a key player in her clan.

In the second cour, Sakamoto discovers that the supposed threat from the death row inmates is a distraction designed to lure ORDER into a trap. The real aim of the antagonist X (Slur) is to destroy the Japan Assassins Association. Shin's powers evolve to let him glimpse the future in his fight with Saw. The 22 episodes end mid-story, since the manga continues and a second season has been announced.

Some read it as a straight genre parody of the invincible-hero trope, noting that Sakamoto can both damage enemies and receive wounds, which sets him apart from overpowered leads. Others read it as a sincere story about redemption, with the comedy softening a serious question. A third view treats his no-kill vow as a convenient narrative constraint that is not always plausible, as one reviewer remarked about explosive car crashes.
