As filming progresses, Griff's lie collapses when the crew encounters an actual Sony Pictures production boat also filming Anaconda in the Amazon. Confronted by Doug, Griff confesses he never bought the rights. Tensions erupt just as real disaster strikes: Griff accidentally kills their trained prop snake, and Santiago is brutally ambushed and eaten by a gargantuan, wild anaconda.
The situation escalates when local illegal gold miners, led by João, attack the crew. Ana is swallowed by the giant serpent during a chaotic river barge battle. Realizing the snake is drawn to pheromones, Doug covers himself in warthog scent and goop to serve as bait. In an explosive climax, Doug and Griff lure the beast near fuel tanks and blow it up, surviving against all odds.
They return home bruised but bonded, editing their chaotic footage into an unauthorized bootleg film. In the mid-credits scene, Jennifer Lopez arrives at Doug's house, impressed by his bootleg cut, and offers him a contract to direct her next blockbuster—causing Doug to faint on his front porch.
