Emilia Pérez — Ending Explained

After undergoing surgery in Bangkok and faking Manitas' death, Emilia meets Rita four years later in London and relocates Jessi and her children to Mexico, posing as "Tía Emilia". She founds La Lucecita to exhume mass graves and falls in love with Epifanía, a widow of cartel violence.

Conflict escalates when Jessi reconnects with former lover Gustavo Brun and decides to marry him and take the children away. Enraged, Emilia freezes Jessi’s finances, leading Gustavo and Jessi to kidnap Emilia for ransom. During the abduction, Gustavo cuts off two of Emilia's fingers. When Rita arrives with security forces, a chaotic shootout occurs, during which Jessi realizes that Emilia is her former husband Manitas.

As they flee in a vehicle, a physical struggle breaks out, causing the car to crash into a ravine, killing Emilia, Jessi, and Gustavo. Rita survives, gains custody of Emilia’s children to raise them safely, while Emilia is publicly memorialized as a saintly martyr with her past identity as Manitas remaining secret.
