Modern Ka-young is revealed to be the reincarnation of a 10th-century Goryeo slave girl who used three wishes selflessly, sealing Iblis inside the lamp for 983 years. Iblis is a fallen entity whose failure to corrupt Ka-young sentences him to erasure. After the antagonist Khalid causes the death of Ka-young's grandmother, Ka-young uses her final wish to gain emotional empathy. Though Iblis is sentenced to oblivion, Ka-young's grief and love move the celestial realm, leading Azrael and Irem to grant a divine reprieve and grant them an eternal happy ending together.
