Icefall — Ending Explained

The conflict begins when a spring thaw surfaces a beacon-equipped cash case from a plane that crashed five months earlier with $20 million. Harlan retrieves the case while ice fishing, leading to his arrest by game warden Ani just before Drake's mercenaries ambush them.

Because Harlan alone knows the exact coordinates of the sunken plane, Rhodes leads a tactical hunt across the lake. Harlan counters with wilderness tactics, including modified bear traps that kill pursuing snowmobile riders. During the climax, Rhodes captures and interrogates Harlan on the deteriorating ice shelf.
