Playdate is a 2025 buddy action-comedy directed by Luke Greenfield from a screenplay written by Neil Goldman. The story centers on Brian Jennings, an unassertive forensic accountant who is abruptly laid off and finds himself reluctantly thrust into the role of a full-time stay-at-home stepfather to his ten-year-old stepson, Lucas. Struggling to bridge the emotional distance between himself and the non-athletic, dance-loving Lucas, Brian attempts to foster social connections by agreeing to an afternoon playdate with Jeff Eamon, a charismatic, hyper-fit fellow stay-at-home dad.
What begins as an ordinary afternoon of soccer drills and polite suburban banter immediately derails when heavily armed mercenaries crash the playdate. It turns out that Jeff is an intensely trained, borderline-unhinged former operative with a volatile past, currently on the run with his son Wyatt. Caught completely flat-footed with zero tactical skills, Brian is forced to partner with the lethal yet eccentric Jeff.
Together with their boys, the duo embarks on an escalating cross-town pursuit involving militarized suburban moms, corrupt syndicates, and vehicular mayhem, turning an ordinary domestic playdate into a fight for survival.
