Suspicious Partner (수상한 파트너) is a 2017 South Korean hybrid crime thriller, legal procedural, and romantic comedy written by Kwon Ki-young and directed by Park Sun-ho and Jung Dong-yoon. The story follows Noh Ji-wook, a brilliant yet cynical prosecutor with a deep-seated distrust of people, and Eun Bong-hee, an optimistic, resilient judicial apprentice who unexpectedly finds herself wrongfully framed for the brutal murder of her ex-boyfriend. When Ji-wook sacrifices his coveted prosecutorial career to dismiss the fabricated charges against Bong-hee due to a lack of evidence, their lives become inextricably linked.
Stripped of his prosecutorial status, Ji-wook establishes a private practice alongside his estranged childhood friend Ji Eun-hyuk, hiring Bong-hee and seasoned paralegal Bang Eun-ho. Together, the ragtag legal defense team takes on complex criminal cases while attempting to clear Bong-hee’s name and uncover the true killer. The narrative escalates when an amnesiac, calculating serial predator enters their orbit as a client, dragging the characters into a perilous game of psychological warfare.
Across its 40-episode (20-hour) run, the series seamlessly weaves high-stakes criminal investigation with workplace camaraderie and poignant romance. As past personal tragedies, institutional corruption within the prosecution office, and twisted family secrets come to light, the characters are forced to confront their traumatic pasts to achieve true emotional liberation and professional justice.
