Begins as a traumatized, suicidal outcast in Season 1 who reluctantly uses his monstrous power to shield apartment residents. In Season 2, he isolates himself to prevent hurting others and undergoes severe internal battles between his human and monster alter-egos. In Season 3, he unifies both halves, mastering his powers to restore monsters’ minds and lead humanity toward peace.

Initially personal vengeance/redemption; later hijacked by Sang-won’s desire for monster dominance, until Sang-wook's final selfless act of self-destruction.

Season 1 introduces Sang-wook as a scarred, tough-talking contract killer who reveals a deeply protective heart. At the end of Season 1, his body is hijacked by Jung Ui-myeong (Nam Sang-won / MH-1), the rogue Special Infectee. Across Seasons 2 and 3, Sang-won uses Sang-wook’s body to build a monster order. In the series finale, Sang-wook’s lingering original consciousness awakens, sacrificing himself in a bonfire to eliminate Sang-won permanently.

Ensuring the survival of the Green Home group and his adopted sister; evolving into maintaining equilibrium as a Neo-Human.

A cool-headed former medical student who steps up as the cold, calculating leader of Green Home in Season 1, sacrificing himself as the building collapses. He turns into a monster off-screen and emerges from a cocoon in Season 3 as an emotionless Neo-Human. Through his sister Eun-yu and Hyun-su, he gradually reconnects with faint traces of human affection, helping defeat Sang-won.

Finding her missing brother and preventing Hyun-su from giving in to his monster side.

Starts as a cynical, sharp-tongued former ballerina struggling with rebellion. Following her brother Eun-hyeok’s disappearance, she matures into a resourceful survivor across Seasons 2 and 3, never losing hope that Eun-hyeok and Hyun-su remain human. Her emotional conviction keeps Hyun-su anchored to his human self.

Finding the truth about her fiancé and protecting her daughter.

An original show character (not in the webtoon)—a former firefighter who uncovers military secrets while searching for her missing fiancé, Sang-won. She gives birth to a mysterious child (Yi-su) with monster-inducing powers in Season 2. Yi-kyung spends Season 3 fighting to protect her child from Sang-won's corruption before tragically passing.
