Directed by Denis Rovira van Boekholt and scripted by Jaime Vaca, Tell Me Softly (Dímelo bajito) is a Spanish young-adult romantic drama based on the bestselling 2020 novel by Argentine-Spanish author Mercedes Ron. The film follows Kamila "Kami" Hamilton (Alícia Falcó), a high school senior and cheerleader at Carsville International School who has spent seven years curating an impeccable, rule-bound exterior to bury past trauma. Having recently broken away from an aggressive, entitled ex-boyfriend named Dani (Jan Buxaderas), Kami strives to maintain control over her emotions, social standing, and academic life.
That fragile equilibrium collapses when her former next-door neighbors, the Di Bianco brothers, return to town after a seven-year absence. The older brother, Thiago (Fernando Líndez), was Kami's fiery first love and the boy who gave her her first kiss; the younger brother, Taylor (Diego Vidales), was her loyal confidant and childhood protector.
As the three are thrust back into each other's orbits—with Taylor entering Kami's senior class and Thiago taking on an assistant coaching role—unresolved passion and buried hostility ignite a volatile love triangle. The film explores whether the deep emotional scars connecting them can ever be healed or if the past will once again shatter their lives.
