The narrative resolves when Mario and Luigi's intervention with a subterranean water main pulls them into a dimensional Warp Pipe. After traversing the Mushroom Kingdom and forging an alliance with the Kong Army via kart combat on Rainbow Road, the heroes face Bowser's invasion forces.
During Bowser's forced wedding ceremony in his volcanic castle, Princess Peach uses an Ice Flower to freeze Bowser while Mario and Donkey Kong rescue the prisoners suspended above lava. When an enraged Bowser launches a giant Bomber Bill (Banzai Bill) to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario lures the warhead into the Warp Pipe. The resulting spatial detonation pulls the entire battleground into downtown Brooklyn.
In the climactic street fight, Mario and Luigi simultaneously seize the Super Star, gaining total invulnerability to defeat Bowser and his army. Peach feeds Bowser a Blue Mini Mushroom, shrinking him into a harmless state where he is imprisoned in a glass jar. Celebrated by their family and city, the brothers choose to permanently reside in the Mushroom Kingdom.
