Character Arc

Begins as an emotionless, instinct-driven blank vessel. Over centuries, he learns language, culture, empathy, and love. In later eras, burdened by relentless warfare and grief, he transitions from a wandering immortal into a guardian protector who masters the physical realm and learns to resurrect the dead before redefining his role in the world.

Archetype: The Detached Creator / Cosmic Mentor Key Trait: Cold omnipotence and philosophical detachment

Motivation

Preparing Fushi to preserve the world and eventually take over cosmic responsibilities.

Character Arc

Created the universe and deposited the Orb on Earth. Maintains an objective, cold distance, viewing mortality and suffering as natural functions of a complete ecosystem. As Fushi develops mortal will and challenges his instructions, the Beholder observes the limits of his own omniscience, eventually seeking Fushi as a successor so he may step away.

Motivation

To grow up, become an adult and a real mother, and protect those weaker than herself.

Character Arc

A young girl selected as a human sacrifice to the Oniguma. Rather than despairing, she takes on the role of Fushi’s 'mother,' naming him, teaching him to eat, and instilling basic manners. Her sacrifice and death leave Fushi with his fundamental moral compass; her spiritual presence remains an emotional anchor throughout all eras.

Disfigured in an accident and modified by the Booze Man, Gugu lives behind a monster mask. He accepts Fushi as a younger brother, teaching him hard work, friendship, and romantic yearning. His heroic sacrifice to save Rean solidifies Fushi’s understanding of brotherhood, bravery, and personal dignity.

Motivation

Initially introduced as an eccentric, arrogant royal obsessed with fame and succession, Bonchien possesses the rare psychic ability to see the spirits (fye) of the deceased. He becomes Fushi’s strategist and deepest emotional confidant, guiding Fushi to realize that his fallen companions have never truly abandoned him.
