Black Adam introduces Teth-Adam, an ancient Kahndaqi enslaved five millennia ago who received godly abilities to challenge tyranny. After centuries of entombment following the catastrophic destruction of the ancient realm, Adam is inadvertently awakened in modern Kahndaq by freedom fighter and archaeologist Adrianna Tomaz. The nation remains under harsh subjugation—this time by Intergang, a technologically sophisticated criminal syndicate exploiting the country for its precious magical mineral, Eternium.
Adam's brutal, unapologetic methods of dispensing justice quickly draw global attention. Viewing his lethal power as a global destabilizer, Amanda Waller mobilizes the Justice Society—led by Hawkman (Carter Hall) alongside Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson), Atom Smasher (Al Rothstein), and Cyclone (Maxine Hunkel)—to detain him. As ideological tensions clash between the modern heroes and Kahndaq's ancient protector, an escalating threat emerges within Intergang, pursuing an ancient relic of demonic power.
