Black Panther: Wakanda Forever — Ending Explained

The film begins with T'Challa succumbing to a sudden terminal illness after Shuri fails to synthesize the Heart-Shaped Herb in time. Soon after, Namor bypasses Wakanda’s cloaking defenses to reveal Talokan, an underwater civilization created in the 16th century when his Mayan ancestors consumed a vibranium-mutated plant to escape Spanish conquest and smallpox. Namor targets MIT student Riri Williams, who engineered a vibranium-detecting machine for the United States government.

When hostilities escalate, Namor attacks Wakanda's golden city and floods the palace, causing Queen Ramonda to drown while saving Riri Williams. Consuming a newly synthesized synthetic herb, Shuri enters the Ancestral Plane where she is confronted by Erik Killmonger, who validates her rage and challenges her moral path.

Shuri lures Namor onto a desert battlefield to dehydrate and weaken him. After subduing him, a vision of Queen Ramonda reminds her, 'Show them who we are.' Shuri spares Namor's life and establishes a mutual defense alliance. Shuri cedes the royal challenge ceremony to M'Baku, travels to Haiti to mourn T'Challa by burning her funeral clothes, and is introduced to T'Challa's secret son, Prince T'Challa (Toussaint).
