Act I: The Cohabitation & The Mask (Episodes 1–3)
Lee Doo-na walks off stage during a live concert due to severe panic and vocal paralysis. Abandoned by her manager Park In-wook in a student share-house, she encounters Lee Won-jun. She initially suspects him of being a sasaeng stalker, but discovers he is an earnest engineering student who does not follow idol culture. Doo-na uses him for company, dragging him to meals. Won-jun catches a stalker photographing Doo-na, earning her trust.

Act II: Intimacy & Vulnerability (Episodes 4–6)
Won-jun’s first love Jin-joo and childhood friend I-ra enter the dynamic. In Episode 4, Doo-na kisses Won-jun impulsively, but later dismisses it as a joke in Episode 5. Won-jun refuses to be a plaything, establishing emotional boundaries. In Episode 6, Doo-na secretly witnesses Dream Sweet performing without her. Brokenhearted, she takes Won-jun to her countryside childhood home, where they share a heartfelt kiss and begin officially dating.

Doo-na is torn between her love for Won-jun and her artistic identity. In-wook manipulates Won-jun, highlighting how dating Doo-na will invite media harassment and ruin her comeback. Won-jun struggles with feelings of inadequacy and jealousy. As Doo-na agrees to prepare for a solo comeback, the physical and societal distance forces a painful split.

Act IV: The Finale & Ambiguity (Episode 9)
Won-jun moves out of the share-house, completes his mandatory military service, and passes the national civil service exam. Doo-na achieves massive solo success, re-entering the public spotlight with confidence. Doo-na visits Won-jun’s apartment before her tour; they embrace in tears, acknowledging their love while accepting their separate lives. The series concludes in Japan: Won-jun walks with government colleagues through a grand hotel atrium while Doo-na walks by with security and entourage. They pass within feet of each other without making eye contact in front of cameras—yet subtle framing and intro scenes leave open the reality that they protect their enduring bond in secret.

The series offers two primary interpretations of its conclusion:

• The Bittersweet Parting (Realist Reading): Doo-na returns fully to her demanding idol life while Won-jun becomes an ordinary civil servant. In the final scene in Japan, they walk past each other in a hotel lobby without acknowledging one another—symbolizing that their share-house romance was a precious chapter that has concluded, leaving both healed, mature, and independent.
