As Simon navigates the coordinates on moon AT-5, the submarine suffers increasing mechanical failures: pipe ruptures, fires, electrical short-circuits, and rising interior blood levels. The camera terminal begins capturing unsettling images: immense ancient ossuaries, non-human architecture, and eventually the glowing lure and silhouette of an apex predatory leviathan resembling a colossal, mutated anglerfish.

During a severe hull collision, the submarine is thrown into an unmapped oceanic trench. Simon realizes that earlier expeditions did not fail due to navigational errors—they were actively hunted. Understanding that escape is impossible and that the Iron Lung will implode under the creature's attacks, Simon makes a final, defiant choice. He secures the reconnaissance data drive and research hard capsules to an emergency buoyant life-preserver beacon.

In the climax, the leviathan breaches the submersible's hull, crushing the vessel and consuming Simon in the darkness. Moments later, the buoyant beacon floats to the surface of the crimson ocean.
