The Motel Slaying: Mo-mi goes on a date with "Handsome Monk," who attempts to humiliate and assault her after realizing she is not conventionally attractive. She knocks him unconscious; Ju Oh-nam arrives, murders the man, and dismembers his body in his apartment bathtub.
Oh-nam’s Murder: Oh-nam confronts Mo-mi, professing his love while simultaneously violating her. Mo-mi kills Oh-nam in self-defense, undergoes extensive full-face plastic surgery, changes her name to A-reum, and disappears into the cabaret nightclub underworld.
The Sisterhood Bloodbath: Kim Kyung-ja tracks down Mo-mi's best friend, Kim Choon-ae. In a chaotic shootout, Mo-mi and Choon-ae kill Choon-ae’s abusive ex-boyfriend Choi Bu-yong. Kyung-ja fatally shoots Choon-ae, mistaking her for Mo-mi, before being pushed into a reservoir by Mo-mi.
Surrender and Motherhood: Pregnant with Mi-mo (implied to be Oh-nam’s child), Mo-mi turns herself in to the police and spends the next decade in solitary prison life, giving the baby to her estranged mother.
The Climax and Finale: Kyung-ja survives the drowning, undergoes cosmetic reconstruction herself, infiltrates young Mi-mo’s life as a friendly neighborhood tteokbokki vendor, and kidnaps the girl to murder her in front of Mo-mi. Mo-mi escapes prison, arrives in time, and takes a fatal bullet from Kyung-ja to shield her daughter before police shoot Kyung-ja dead. Mi-mo finally discovers her late mother’s childhood videotape, finally understanding Mo-mi’s pure, unmasked soul.
