Season 2: In Paris, Claire and Jamie attempt to undermine the Jacobite uprising by infiltrating Charles Stuart’s inner circle. Claire suffers a devastating stillbirth with their first child, Faith. Returning to Scotland, they fail to halt history: on the morning of the Battle of Culloden, Jamie forces a pregnant Claire back through the stones to protect their child, staying behind to die in battle. Claire returns to 1948, reconciles with Frank, and gives birth to Brianna. Twenty years later, following Frank's death, Claire discovers Jamie survived Culloden.
Season 3: Chronicling 20 years of separation: Jamie survives Culloden, lives as a feral fugitive ("The Dunbonnet"), fathers an illegitimate son (William Ransom) while indentured at Helwater, and returns to Edinburgh as a printer. Claire becomes a surgeon in 1960s Boston. Guided by Roger, Claire travels back to 1766 to reunite with Jamie in his print shop. Their nephew Young Ian is kidnapped by pirates, taking them across the Atlantic to Jamaica, where they kill Geillis Duncan and are shipwrecked on the coast of Georgia.
Season 4: Jamie and Claire settle in colonial North Carolina, establishing Fraser’s Ridge. In the 1970s, Brianna discovers an obituary stating her parents will die in a house fire; she travels through the stones, followed by Roger. Season 7: Jamie and Claire are cleared of murder charges and drawn into the Saratoga campaign of the Revolutionary War. Brianna and Roger return with their children to the 20th century to secure modern medical surgery for their daughter Amanda. Jamie and Claire return briefly to Scotland before being pulled back into the escalating war in America.
Season 8 & Series Finale ("And the World Was All Around Us"): The revolutionary struggle peaks at the Battle of Kings Mountain. Major Ferguson shoots Jamie in the chest just as the battle ends. Believing Jamie dead, Claire experiences an awakening of her supernatural healing energy, projecting a radiant blue light that restarts Jamie’s heart at the brink of death. As they realize their miraculous survival, the final sequence reveals Jamie’s spirit traveling across centuries to 1945 Inverness. Jamie touches the stones at Craigh na Dun, causing the blue forget-me-nots to bloom—the very flowers that drew Claire to the circle in Episode 1, confirming that their entire generational journey is an eternal, unbroken loop of destiny.
