The series features several major twists and narrative resolutions:
- The Husband Mystery: Choi Taek is revealed as Sung Deok-sun's husband. While Deok-sun initially had crushes on Sun-woo (Episodes 1–5) and Jung-hwan (Episodes 6–15) because her friends told her they liked her, her relationship with Taek matures naturally, and she chooses him out of her own independent feelings.
- Sun-woo’s True Crush: Sun-woo’s secret romantic interest in Episodes 1–6 was never Deok-sun, but her older sister Bo-ra.
- Jung-hwan's Sacrifice and Letting Go: Jung-hwan discovers Taek’s feelings for Deok-sun in Episodes 10–12 and suppresses his own romantic pursuit. In Episode 18, set six years later in 1994, Jung-hwan presents his air force ring to Deok-sun and delivers a heartfelt confession—only to laugh it off as a joke to his friends, serving as his personal farewell to his first love.
- The Finale Scene: Episode 20 concludes with all families moving away as Ssangmun-dong undergoes urban redevelopment. Adult Deok-sun visits the abandoned, dilapidated alley set. The camera transitions into Taek’s old room, where all five teenage friends are gathered watching TV, before Deok-sun's narration bids a final farewell to her youth and Ssangmun-dong as the room fades back to an empty, decaying building.
