Set around 50 BC, the story begins in ancient China during the Han Dynasty. A treacherous warlord, Prince Deng Tsin Qin, executes a palace coup and imprisons the Empress. The Empress’s only daughter, Princess Fu Yi (also known as Princess Sa See), escapes with her loyal bodyguard Tat Han and Phoenician merchant Graindemaïs, journeying across continents to seek the help of the invincible Gaulish village in Armorica.
Upon reaching Gaul, the refugees encounter Asterix and Obelix amidst personal dilemmas—Asterix is questioning violence and adopting a vegetarian diet, while Obelix mourns the rejection of wild boar. Moved by the princess's plight, the indomitable Gauls agree to embark on an epic journey along the Silk Road toward the Far East.
Simultaneously, Julius Caesar suffers humiliation in Rome after Cleopatra mocks his lack of modern conquests. Desperate to reassert his imperial dominance and win back her respect, Caesar marches his legions eastward and forms an opportunistic alliance with Deng Tsin Qin, setting the stage for a grand clash of empires, traditions, and magical feats on Chinese soil.
