Dust Bunny (2025) is the feature directorial debut of Bryan Fuller, blending dark fantasy, action thriller, and Amblin-style gateway horror. Set against a stylized, storybook vision of New York, the narrative follows Aurora (Sophie Sloan), an imaginative and lonely ten-year-old girl living in a crumbling apartment building near Chinatown. Aurora is convinced that a predatory, supernatural entity living under her bed devoured her family. Unable to convince adults or foster guardians, she takes matters into her own hands.
Her salvation appears across the hallway in the form of "Resident 5B" (Mads Mikkelsen), an enigmatic and reclusive neighbor with deadly combat skills. After witnessing him effortlessly neutralize a squad of armed attackers during an altercation in Chinatown, Aurora deduces that he is a slayer of beasts and hires him to eliminate the creature lurking beneath her floorboards.
Believing the girl's tragedy may actually be connected to lethal crossfire from his own violent underworld past, the hitman reluctantly accepts the contract. As the two form an uneasy bond, they find themselves pursued by ruthless operatives, enigmatic handlers, and a shadowy threat where childhood nightmare and brutal reality converge.
