Memories of the Alhambra (2018–2019) is a high-concept sci-fi fantasy thriller centered on Yoo Jin-woo, the sharp, ambitious CEO of Korean tech investment firm J One Holdings. After receiving a frantic midnight call from an enigmatic teenage developer named Jung Se-joo about an unprecedented augmented-reality (AR) battle game, Jin-woo travels to Granada, Spain. He checks into Hostel Bonita, an unkempt boarding house managed by Se-joo’s older sister, Jung Hee-joo, an earnest former classical guitarist struggling to keep her family afloat.
Eager to secure the licensing rights before his former friend and bitter corporate rival Cha Hyung-seok does, Jin-woo inserts smart contact lenses to beta-test the software in Granada’s historical streets. What begins as an astonishing technological breakthrough immediately spirals into an inescapable nightmare: game mechanics start bleeding uncontrollably into physical reality. Real blood is shed, in-game wounds trigger physical trauma, and fallen opponents return as relentless digital revenants only Jin-woo can see and fight.
As the lines between sanity, software glitches, and physical survival disintegrate, Jin-woo becomes an isolated pariah hunted by police, estranged colleagues, and virtual phantoms. His only tether to humanity is Hee-joo, whose trust becomes his anchor as he levels up through dangerous historical combat zones across Spain and South Korea to unravel the truth behind Se-joo’s disappearance, purge a terminal glitch, and break an unrelenting technological curse.
