Midnight Sun follows the story of 17-year-old Katie Price, a talented musician who has lived a sheltered life since childhood due to a rare genetic condition called Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP). This condition makes even the slightest exposure to direct sunlight potentially fatal. Confined to her home during the day behind specialized tinted windows, her world is limited to her protective father, Jack, and her one best friend, Morgan. Katie’s only window to the outside world is the glass she peers through, where she has secretly watched her crush, Charlie, pass by for years.
As night falls, Katie is finally free to venture out. One evening, while busking with her guitar at a local train station, she has a chance encounter with Charlie. Captivated by her music and her mysterious presence, Charlie begins a relationship with her, unaware of the life-threatening secret she keeps. Katie, desperate to experience the normalcy of a typical teenage romance, struggles to find the right moment to tell him about her illness, leading to a series of enchanting moonlit dates that eventually force her to confront the reality of her mortality.
