The plot hinges on several crucial revelations:
- The Opening Victim’s Identity: The female hostage killed during the opening botched SWAT raid is revealed to be Yoo Yeon-joo, Min Tae-gu’s biological younger sister. She worked as an accountant for the corrupt cabal and was executed to eliminate the paper trail of their arms trafficking.
- Tae-gu’s True Objective: Tae-gu never sought ransom money or safe passage; his true goal was to drag every high-level conspirator (Chairman Koo, Secretary Kong, and NIS Section Chief Hwang Soo-suk) before the camera to force public confessions.
- The Geographic Deception: While the military deployed a special forces strike team to Thailand, Tae-gu was secretly inside South Korea the entire time.
In the climax, Tae-gu infiltrates the underground VIP bunker wearing a suicide bomb vest to detonate himself alongside the corrupt officials. Chae-youn confronts him face-to-face and tearfully begs him to stand down, promising to expose the officials through legitimate legal evidence. Tae-gu hesitates and lowers the detonator, but a police tactical sniper shoots and kills him immediately on orders from corrupt superiors. Devastated, Chae-youn honors her promise by taking the recovered data ledgers to the prosecutor's office to launch formal criminal indictments against the entire syndicate.
