- The Cyclone & Nessarose's Fate: Madame Morrible uses her weather-manipulation magic to conjure the cyclone that transports Dorothy’s house from Kansas to Oz, deliberately crushing Nessarose to trap Elphaba.
- Transformations of Fiyero and Boq: When Nessarose attempts to use the Grimmerie to force Boq to love her, she accidentally shrinks his heart; Elphaba converts him into the Tin Man to save his life. Later, when Fiyero is captured and tortured by the Wizard's guards, Elphaba casts a protection spell ("No Good Deed") that transforms his flesh into straw, turning him into the Scarecrow so he cannot be killed.
