Act I (Eps 1–8): Eugene arrives as an American diplomat, catching Ae-shin during a joint sniper mission. Ae-shin believes 'Love' is a simple partnership until Eugene reveals the tragic reality.
Act II (Eps 9–16): Eugene reveals his former slave identity to Ae-shin, shaking her world. Meanwhile, traitor Lee Wan-ik collaborates with Japanese minister Hayashi to sell out Korea's sovereignty.
Act III (Eps 17–22): Japanese Colonel Takashi Mori arrives, instituting terror in Hanseong. Dong-mae cuts Ae-shin's hair to keep her hidden, but her grandfather is assassinated by pro-Japanese forces. Ae-shin executes Lee Wan-ik, and Eugene executes Takashi Mori.
Act IV Finale (Eps 23–24):
- Hina's Death: Hina and Ae-shin blow up Glory Hotel to kill Japanese commanders. Hina dies on the beach in Dong-mae's arms.
- Dong-mae's Death: Suffering from severe injuries, Dong-mae fights dozens of Yakuza on the beach, dying with a smile after seeing Ae-shin one last time.
- Hee-sung's Death: Imprisoned and tortured for printing anti-Japanese underground newspapers, Hee-sung refuses to name his comrades and dies in prison.
- Eugene's Sacrifice: On a train transporting Japanese troops and Ae-shin, Eugene uses his final bullet to shoot a train coupler, separating Ae-shin's carriage to safety while he remains trapped on the Japanese side, killed in a hail of gunfire.
- Epilogue: Years later in 1910, Ae-shin trains a new generation of Righteous Army recruits in Manchuria, keeping the memory of her fallen comrades alive.
