Strong Girl Nam-soon (2023) is a 16-episode South Korean fantasy action-comedy drama created as a spin-off to the 2017 hit series Strong Woman Do Bong-soon. Written by Baek Mi-kyeong and directed by Kim Jung-sik, the series expands the "Strong Girl" universe by focusing on Gang Nam-soon (Lee You-mi), a young woman born with hereditary, superhuman female strength who was accidentally lost in Mongolia as a young child. After spending over a decade in the Mongolian steppes searching for her roots, Nam-soon returns to Seoul as an adult determined to reconnect with her family.
Her return leads to a joyous reunion with her multi-generational matriarchal family: her mother, Hwang Geum-ju (Kim Jung-eun), a wealthy and righteous Gangnam CEO, and her grandmother, Gil Joong-gan (Kim Hae-sook), a force-of-nature elder who commands respect across the district. However, their heartwarming family reunion quickly becomes entangled in a dangerous criminal investigation when all three women become aware of a lethal new synthetic drug spreading through Gangnam.
Teaming up with Gang Hee-sik (Ong Seong-wu), an upright police detective from the Gangnam Police Precinct's drug investigation squad, the heroic trio uses their extraordinary physical gifts, immense wealth, and moral conviction to dismantle the syndicate. The investigation forces Nam-soon to go undercover inside Doogo, a massive distribution firm headed by the enigmatic and ruthless CEO Ryu Si-o (Byeon Woo-seok). Across its narrative arc, the show balances high-stakes criminal espionage, eccentric slapstick comedy, generational romance, and matriarchal empowerment.
